The event took place at the Church of Scientology & Community Centre of Dublin. Speakers represented several areas of community work, providing participants with a broader picture of humanitarian activity in and around eu news politics Dublin.

Cllr. Francis Timmons, Mayor of South Dublin, discussed the work of Clondalkin Helping Homeless and its support for people experiencing homelessness and hardship.

Viktor Kozyrev, co-founder of VOLA Enable, focused on the organisation's work with people with disabilities and its emphasis on independence and participation.

The programme also included a presentation by Silvia Fani on the local and international work of Scientology Volunteer Ministers.

Created in the 1970s by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, the Volunteer Ministers programme is centred on providing practical help in everyday difficulties and times of crisis. Its motto is “Something Can Be Done About It.”

An interactive session later allowed participants to become familiar with several methods used within the Volunteer Ministers programme.

Taken together, the presentations illustrated how humanitarian work can be carried out by organisations with very different areas of expertise.
